Het werk van Sara Vrugt bevindt zich op het snijvlak van modevormgeving en beeldende kunst. Ze gebruikt kleding als onderdeel van een autonome taal. Door textiel als medium te gebruiken en het menselijk lichaam als instrument wil ze met de collecties, textiele installaties en recentelijk ook community-fashion die zij ontwikkelt de grenzen van haar vakgebied opzoeken, onderzoeken, ter discussie stellen en verleggen. Dankzij de sculpturale en theatrale kwaliteiten is haar werk inpasbaar in uiteenlopende kunstdisciplines. Een constante in haar werk is de kritische en beschouwende positie die ze inneemt ten opzichte van haar directe omgeving en de maatschappij.
The work of Sara Vrugt focuses on the combination of fashion design and art. She uses clothing as part of an autonomous language. By using textile as a medium and the human body as an instrument she aims to investigate, question and push the boundaries of her discipline with her collections, textile installations and recently developed community-fashion. Thanks to the sculptural and theatrical qualities her work is categorizable in divers art disciplines. The reflective and critical position she holds towards her immediate environment and society is a returning aspect in her work.
