De autonome werken van Karin Mientjes zijn bijzonder complex en focussen zich vanuit haar perspectief als grafisch ontwerper op het snijvlak van verschillende ontwerpdisciplines. Dit gebeurt door het combineren van een redactionele boodschap met media die zich toespitsten op patronen, formaat en ruimte. Daarnaast zijn ook conceptueel onderzoek, categorisering en postconceptuele typografie onderdeel van haar grafische perspectief.
Door haar vasthoudendheid en doorzettingsvermogen is zij in staat al haar werken tot op de meest minuscule details door te voeren. Dit resulteert in bijzonder arbeidsintensieve en ambachtelijk hoogstaande werken die de esthetiek van het handgemaakte benadrukken. Met haar werk daagt zij het traditionele veld van grafisch ontwerpen uit.
The self-contained work of Karin Mientjes is extremely complex. It originates from her perspective as a graphic designer at the interface of different designing disciplines. This happens by combining an editorial message in media that is focused on patterns, format and space. Conceptual study, categorization and post conceptual typography are also part of her graphical perspective.
Her perseverance and tenacity enables her to create all her works unto the most minuscule detail. This results into high profiled crafts work that has its emphasis on the aesthetic of handmade design. The tradition of graphic design is embedded in her work.
