LhGWR presenteert in samenwerking met East Wing (Qatar) en met veel trots een tentoonstelling met werken van de Amerikaanse beeldend kunstenaar Masood Kamandy (1981).
Kamandy maakte voor de werken die te zien zijn in Superpositional gebruik van chronofotografisch materiaal (denk aan Muybridge). Het dient als uitgangspunt voor een onderzoek naar de essentie van beweging en tijd in stilstaande beelden. Hij ontwikkelde software waarmee verschillende beelden tot één beeld worden samengebracht en waar uiteenlopende algoritmes op los worden gelaten. De software berekent bijvoorbeeld een gemiddelde van een reeks beelden waardoor de beweging van het onderwerp in kwestie in de beelden wordt benadrukt. Het leidt tot wonderlijke, vaak chaotisch ogende, kleurenpracht en composities die zich op het snijvlak van figuratie en abstractie bevinden.
Het werk in de tentoonstelling was in de afgelopen maanden te zien op Documenta 13 in Kassel (Duitsland) en Kaboel (Afganistan).

With great pride, and in cooperation with East Wing (Qatar), LhGWR presents an exhibition of a series of recent works by the American artist Masood Kamandy (1981).
Reference to the works on display in Superpositional is a long tradition of chronophotography (think Muybridge). It serves as a starting point for an investigation into the essence of movement and time in still images.
Kamandy developed software that combines several images into one image using various algorithms. The software e.g. calculates an average image of a series of images. Hereby the movement of the subject in question within the images is emphasized. It leads to strange, often chaotic-looking, beautiful splendor and compositions that are on the thin line between figuration and abstraction are.
In the last few months the work in the exhibition was installed at Documenta 13 in Kassel (Germany) and Kabul (Afghanistan).
